Choosing to open up a licensed Home Care agency is the culmination of life’s circumstances and details, at the heart of which is an inspirational man named Stan Bloom, my Dad. It is how Dad lived his life – particularly the last years of his life – that ultimately finalized my decision to start Like Family Home Care. I knew that if I could be a part of helping other families experience what we did with dad, I would be embarking on something really special. You see, we were able to care for dad at home. That was what he wanted and it was evident that it suited him. My dad was always happy, grateful and pleasant, and we were so glad that he was able to stay in the beautiful home he and mom shared on the lake, while being surrounded by people he loved.
Opening Like Family Home Care is also a natural professional evolution for me, after years of working on the business and client service side of Hospice Care, Home Health Care and Physical, Occupational and Neurological Rehabilitation. However, it was the time spent helping my mother provide care for my beloved father that will benefit me the most as the agency owner. I saw that we could not have done it without the help of wonderful professional caregivers that provided support to Dad and to all of us in the last two years of his life. With their assistance, Dad received even more love and care than he would have otherwise, and we all enjoyed more peace of mind. These caregivers became, “Like Family.”
